How bad are CS:GO Knife skins really?

Lets rip the bandage off quickly here. Overall, knife skins are more expensive now than they have ever been, and are among the most expensive CS:GO skins in the game.

Low grade and less popular knives will still run you at least $80 today, and that’s just for the individual value of the item. The higher grade CS:GO knife skins reach 4, nearly 5 digit price figures, but there are even more expensive exceptions. Much of this ever mounting price tag come from the way we get knife skins in the first place.

The House Always Wins

The basic gist of it is simple. You’re very unlikely to ever open any CS:GO knife skins from a case yourself.

The difficulty here makes the ones that have been opened very valuable. There’s less than a 1% chance to open a yellow or higher. Even then, you’re not guaranteed to get a knife. You’re looking at a real shot in the dark to ever get one. While many cases are being opened by players each and every day, there isn’t enough of them being received from these cases to bring down demand in any significant way.

In addition, many of the most desirable and expensive CS:GO skins are in cases that aren’t distributed much. When the number of cases available becomes lower, the remaining cases become more expensive. It makes it that much more difficult to acquire any to have a chance to open in the first place.
